Syroco partners with DBO Marine Service to reduce fuel consumption and emissions of Turkish merchant vessels

Specialised Istanbul-based marine consultancy to support go-to-market and deployment of next generation weather routing and voyage optimisation for ship owners and operators.

Marseille (France) and Istanbul (Turkey), June 25, 2024 - Syroco, the Climate Tech startup which supports the energy transition of maritime transport, announced today that DBO Marine Service, a specialised provider of advanced services for the maritime industry based in Istanbul, Turkey, has become a commercial and services agent of Syroco for the Turkish market.

Under the terms of the agreement, DBO Marine Service will recommend the Syroco solution to Turkey-based ship owners and operators, assist them with the evaluation of their fuel savings and emissions reduction and with their decision making process, and support the optimisation of operations and the deployment of the platform on customers’ vessels.

Syroco provides a software platform that optimises energy efficiency, fuel consumption and carbon emissions of ships through multi-objective weather routing and real-time voyage optimisation. Using a digital twin of the ship that sails in parallel with the actual ship, the cloud-based solution computes the most optimised routing, provides real-time information to the crew through a best-in-class interface and measures fuel consumption and savings. The Syroco platform supports ship owners and operators’ trajectory toward cleaner shipping and their efforts toward improvement of vessel CII and proper management of EU ETS strategy.

Captain Burak Oruc, Managing Director at DBO Marine Service, explained: “We considered several solution providers and decided to partner with Syroco because of the accuracy of their technology and the level of service their team is providing. After only a few years of operation, Syroco already has gained prestigious customers and established a strong track record. We are excited by this partnership and by the opportunity to bring cutting edge decarbonisation technologies to Turkish customers.”

Alex Caizergues, CEO and co-founder of Syroco, comments: “There is a strong shipping tradition in Turkey, and the country is home to many world-class fleet operators. We are proud to be working with DBO Marine Service whose team has a long standing history of serving the Turkish maritime community. We are looking forward to a fruitful collaboration to bring to market solutions that support the energy transition of the Turkish commercial fleet.”
