Syroco receives support from Forward WIP

Forward WIP, a Swiss-based company specialising in innovative protective gear, is the choice of winners including America's Cup and SailGP teams, Olympic and World Champions around the world such as Glenn Ashby, Billy Besson and Loïck Peyron.

The equipment manufacturer is becoming the exclusive partner of the personal technical equipment of Syroco's first Moonshot, aiming for 150 km/h propelled by the wind and developing breakthrough innovations for the energy transition of maritime transport.

A need for state-of-the-art equipment

Syroco seeks to demonstrate that risk-taking - intrinsic to the exploits of the startup - and excellence in commitment make it possible to achieve objectives that seem out of reach. These values raise the stakes and push the team to make the best choices in all areas, to face extreme challenges and control risk. It is therefore natural that Syroco should turn to a specialist in innovative protective equipment, designed for enthusiasts who always go faster on the water.

“We are very happy to be able to count on the commitment of a specialist such as Forward WIP,” said Alex Caizergues, CEO and founder of Syroco and pilot of the future speedcraft. “Through my sporting career, I am particularly aware of safety issues and pay special attention to the protection of the entire team, in all circumstances.”

Forward WIP supports enthusiasts who push the limits

Forward WIP looks forward to working with Syroco, which presents an exciting opportunity to develop new equipment. Syroco represents the very best in innovation and protection performance is the DNA of Forward WIP. Syroco represents fast foiling at its peak. It makes sense for Forward WIP with its #gofastonwater motto to partner with Syroco and push the boundaries of wind-powered speed.

“Forward WIP is the reference brand for sailors who go fast on the water and who want to push their limits while being well protected. It was only natural to associate ourselves with Syroco and their quest for the record. In addition, we share the same values of researching new technology and innovation that are important to us. Let’s GO FAST ON WATER!” Rémi Piniel, General Manager of Forward WIP, added.

Personal protective equipment

In its pursuit of the world sailing speed record, Syroco is in the testing phase of its prototype. Unlike the final speedcraft which will challenge the record, the prototype has no pilot on board but is guided remotely. However, the protection and safety of people during the tests remain very important points: the teams evolve in the immediate vicinity of the prototype, on light and fast boats or even in the water, in sea and weather conditions which can present risks.

Forward WIP provides Syroco with a whole range of technical clothing and accessories, including:

  • A Steamer WIP neoprene wetsuit that has become an essential protective device for athletes and technical teams. This reinforced combination allows technical teams to focus on the performance itself without worrying about the rest.
  • The Wiflex Pro helmet, multi-impact EPP approved, has state-of-the-art technology with its ultra-light foam (the lightest helmet on the market, 170 grams). It is equipped with a hyper-optimised BBT communication system integrated at ear level. The Syroco team can then communicate while keeping their hands free while being protected from impacts.

Beyond protection, lifestyle clothing

For Forward WIP, the fact that the outfits are protective and resistant does not prevent them from being elegant! The Syroco team is therefore proud to wear the colours and the WIP signature in extreme conditions, but also on a daily basis.
